How Are You Wired?

How Are You Wired?

Your wiring has a lot to do with how you react to situations, how you perceive your world and how you live your life.

Are you the Type A driven type?  Or are you more laid back?  Are you the life of the party…or would you rather stay home and watch something on TV or read?  Whatever your type is…it is what makes you YOU! There is no one right or wrong way to be wired.  I’ve just recently discovered that to be true, by the way, and spent years of my life thinking that I “should” be something else!  Luckily, it’s never too late to be OK with who you are and how you are wired!  Phew!  And I love this quote from the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun:

“Any arbitrary turning along the way and I would be elsewhere…I would be different.”

Celebrate your Uniqueness!

There is no one on earth who is exactly like you!  I mean, there may be people with whom you can relate to, have the same interests and way of thinking of things.  But there is no one who can contribute to the planet like you.  Only YOU make an impact on this world the way YOU can!  YOU are unique!  YOU have something to offer!

Own Your Wiring

I’ve just realized…like this week in fact…that the way I’m wired is the reason that I do certain things.  Such as, why I start businesses and let them have their run and then either pass it off to someone else or close it altogether.  There’s a reason for that!  I thought I was just not someone who followed through and was beating myself up for it!  (Dang! We can REALLY be hard on ourselves, can’t we?)

But this week I took what is called the Kolbe A test and Career MO.  You can check it out here if you’d like to find out how you are wired too at  (And no, I’m not an affiliate, but it’s just so cool that I had to share!)

So, I took the test and my results were very revealing!  Oh, my word! Here are some things I learned!

  • There are certain things that I want in life, but can’t seem to make them happen…uh…it’s because of the way I’m wired!
  • I am a quick starter on anything that I do. I get really excited and passionate with starting a business, setting it all up, maintaining it, and doing the research necessary.  I can do it like nobody else!  And I love it!
  • But, I also am not a detailed person. I am a visionary. I can see the big picture. I just can envision what I want, what it will take to get there and I am persistent to never give up!

Now, this all sounds good right?  And it should! Because those are all great strengths!  But there are other things that was revealed to me as well.  But again, not to make me fit into a mold, but to say to myself, if those aren’t your strengths…then  hire someone to do them for you while you work on those things that light you up!

We don’t have to struggle doing things that we hate!  We can figure out what we love and also what we don’t enjoy doing.  And it’s okay either way! There is no right or wrong.  It is just how you are wired!

Stop Beating Yourself Up for Who You Are!

So…the big picture here? (yea, I love that!!)  The big picture is this…Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself!  Take some time to give it some thought (take the test if you like) and get clear on what it is that you love and what you don’t.

I was awakened very early this morning…(I call it a download from the Universe when that happens…when God is trying to tell me something important)…and wrote down all the things that I love…such as teaching, explaining, researching, abstract ideas…efficiency, organization…and stuff like that!  What I am not, or don’t enjoy is anything hands on…such as fixing material things (which could be the reason why if something is broken I either call my hubby to take a look, hire someone or throw it out and buy a new one!). I love the outdoors…but, not in the sense of working outside in all kinds of weather…or mucking horse barns. (This was a big revelation because I was wanting so much to get another horse…I mean I want a friendship with another horse…to hang out with, spend time with. But there is a lot of other stuff that you need to do to have another horse and one big item is the physical labor and 24-7 care that a horse requires, not to mention the expenses.)  And at this point in my life, Ok, so maybe I can get my horse fix some other way.  I would even be happy to live next to someone who has a horse just so I can watch these beautiful animals from my office every day!)

So, you can see how…knowing how you are wired…can help you to discover why you may be stuck, or frustrated or seemingly not moving forward in your life and living the life of your dreams as you see it right now.  In fact, knowing your wiring, could change how the dream looks and feels as well!

I’m Super Excited Now!

So, now…I’m ready to take into consideration all the areas of my life based on my particular wiring. No more wishing I was different and liked certain things that drive me up a wall, no more trying to fit myself into a certain mold, no more thinking I am less than…or changing myself at all!

What is important here is…it’s never too late to honor who I am and how I’m wired and to feel that sense of relief when you finally get it!  It’s a journey for sure.  We aren’t all on the same path or looking at or experiencing life the same way.  But it is my wish for you, that you take some time to find out what YOUR wiring is and how you can benefit and celebrate and honor…the Real YOU!!!

“Unthinkably good things can happen, even late in the game.  It’s such a surprise!” – Under the Tuscan Sun, the movie
