“Kindness is free…
sprinkle that stuff everywhere” – Louise Pistole
I want to show Kindness
I really, really do!
I intend to be kind
but finding it hard at times to do so
On any given day, someone “speaks their truth”
the volume rises, the words are brutal
demeanor is condescending
how do I respond kindly to seek their perspective?
Days filled with activities
running to one right after another
minds and bodies pumping adrenaline
what can I do to show kindness to myself?
Striving for success, money and position
bills to pay, mouths to feed
while we push ourselves for “more”
where are the opportunities for kindness?
Life’s distractions: obsession, busyness, striving
minds rarely think of those who are in need
offering a kind word, doing good, expecting nothing in return
oh, to focus outside oneself, to slow down, to “see” humanity
hard hearts…softened, generous and compassionate
anxious minds and bodies…calmed, tranquil, peaceful
frantic lives…soothed, rested, recovered
gentleness, sensitivity, thoughtfulness
seeing another’s grief, empathizing in their suffering
looking for ways to make a difficult burden lighter
Jesus showed kindness every day of His life
He never turned anyone away, sympathetic to their sufferings
He wept in the presence of humanity
even in His darkest hour He showed kindness
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
Jesus invites us to follow Him
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
