It’s with enthusiasm that we welcome you to www.ladybugjunctionfarm.com. Don and I have a dream that is who we are to our very core and holds a special place in my heart.
The farm was a dream that sprouted in childhood and is the very essence of who I am. At times, we doubted whether we would ever see the farm actually become a reality. But the calling is so strong, we both know that this is one of those things that is wrapped up in all that we are and it must one day become a reality for us, the animals we adopt and for those who wish to become a part of the Ladybug Junction Farm Family.
Don and I married and joined our families in 2007. In 2008 Don took an early retirement from AT&T with 36 years of service.
I have always loved writing so my plan was to write and publish my own ebooks and since I had a business training dogs/puppies for five years, I decided to write a puppy training parent’s guide. As a result, Surviving the Puppy Stage, How to Get Inside Your Dog’s Mind Without Losing Your Own was born.
Needing an edit, I asked Don to do a read through. As he was editing, I noticed he was writing on yellow legal pads. He brought it to my attention that kids would never understand this book. I reminded him it was a parent’s guide but he thought the kids needed a book of their own and it should be from the puppy’s point of view.
I actually thought that was a brilliant idea! I asked if he was thinking an ebook too, but he thought it should be a hardcopy book; you know, something the kids can hold in their hands and read.
Okay, that was going to be a whole other ballgame! Researcher that I am, for the next few years, I learned what it takes to publish your own book in hardcopy format and have full rights to it. Thus, Kaleta Publishing, LLC became our self-publishing company.
In 2009-2010, Don, with the help of our dog Roc, wrote his kid’s book Puppy Scents, The Kids’ Guide to Puppy Care. We’ve always felt that Puppy Scents had a mission for kids & pups. The Puppy Scents Book and our Be Kind, Be Fit, Be Me Club will one day be Roc’s mission at the farm “to bring kids and pups together in friendship so no more dogs have to be alone, scared or homeless.”
For the past ten years, Don has been working as a Facilities Director while I was coaching others in writing and publishing, ghost writing and writing my second book, Stop Bending Over Backwards Trying to Please and Start Being Who You Really Are for women who find themselves in the chains of “people pleasing”. As a certified life coach, I knew I wanted to work with women and this topic was certainly something I have struggled with for years. This book is the first of a series in Emotional Fitness.
Today, we continue searching for the right property and feel of natural elements that will make Ladybug Junction Farm what we envision it to be.

Co-Founder, Program Director, Life Coach
Mindy Kaleta is co-owner, co-founder of Ladybug Junction Farm along with her husband Don. She is an author/publisher and acts as a program and event coordinator in scheduling activities, classes, workshops and events that support their vision for the farm in the areas of being in the great outdoors & animal connection thru reading, learning, & the LOVE of BOOKS!
Mindy is a “farm girl” at heart and feels most at home while mothering animals, rearranging and decorating their farmhouse, creating home décor pieces, reading, writing and publishing books.
Her mantra is “be who you are and love what you do…every.single.day!” She strives to do this for herself and to encourage others to do the same.
Mindy was born, raised and still resides in Ohio. Her work history is wide and varied from corporate America to the medical field, serving in administrative and supervisory roles.
But Mindy has the entrepreneurial spirit and loves most having her own business and working from the comforts of her home to be close to the people and animals she loves.
In her passion for decorating and creating a beautiful and nurturing home, she studied the art of Staging® from the creator and founder of home staging, Barb Schwartz and earned the Accredited Staging Professional® ASP® status.
Although not an active stager at this time in her life, she still can be found using those skills in Staging® their home while creating a farmhouse style decor that is warm, cozy, relaxing, and full of charm and character. Mindy believes having a space where you feel “at home” is paramount to being who you really are and living your life to the fullest. In under the Tuscan Sun, there is a quote from the movie that says, “What are four walls anyway? The house protects the dreamer.”
Mindy would describe herself as a dreamer & visionary. Her vision for the farm was there even as a child; from raising her pet rooster in her backyard in the city, making horse halters for her dogs, caring for a number of various other animals and dreaming of living on a farm someday. She is busy right now mothering their three cats, two large dogs and a stray kitty that will one day be their first barn cat. So, the menagerie has already begun!
Even at this stage in her and Don’s life, though the farm has not yet materialized, Mindy knows it is just around the corner. She enjoys the search for the right property, developing programs & activities they will offer, designing the details for the farmhouse/barn and creating the essence/charm of the farm.
Family is everything and both Mindy and Don enjoy spending time with their blended family; seven adult children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Mindy loves animals, reading, learning, journaling, writing and publishing books. Owning her own small self-publishing company, Mindy publishes all their own work and has helped others bring that dream of writing and publishing their own book to life.
Co-founder, Facility Maintenance Director
Don Kaleta is co-owner and co-founder of Ladybug Junction Farm and a Facility Director full-time in a senior living community.
Don is a regular guy who loves kids, animals and helping people. Due to his inability to be nothing other than a kid in a grownup body, Puppy Scents, The Kids’ Guide to Puppy Care was born. His out-of-the-ordinary sense of humor and his quirky way of looking at life is evident in the writing of this book with his narrator, our dog, Roc Weiler. Don is passionate about lessons learned in relationships between kids and pups. Roc’s story is filled with life lessons for every child.
Don was born and raised in “the region” near Chicago. Right out of high school, he worked at AT&T for 36 years serving as a building mechanic for 22 of those years and various other positions learning from the best schools AT&T had to offer in building maintenance and repair.
Being a hard worker and having an extreme work ethic by nature, for the past 10 years he has served as a Facility Director in the senior living community; from nursing facilities to assisted living, memory care to independent living. He enjoys providing a safe and beautiful space for residents, staff and visitors, which will carry over nicely when we open the doors to Ladybug Junction Farm.
In addition to his talents in facilities and writing, Don is a musician of many instruments. His love for music is part of who he is and he is looking forward to playing for the animals to bring some joy and music to the farm.
