June 4, 2020 //  by Mindy Kaleta

“Our world is in chaos and life is uncertain.”

I didn’t really know how to express my feelings about some very disturbing news headlines this week.

My emotions were all over the place.  Anger, disgust, sadness…and more emotions I couldn’t identify…all wrapped up in one.

It brought back memories of the 60’s when we had so much unrest and wondered,

“Why haven’t we learned to “love each other” these past 50 years?”

Seems we are back where we started with no hope for the future.

While I was struggling with my emotions, I questioned WHY I was so upset.

No, I don’t want to watch the news; Yes, I want to crawl back in bed and pull the covers over my head.

But there was something else that was bothering me and I couldn’t put my finger on it.

While surfing Facebook, my good friend and Author Diana Marie posted a personal note bringing it home what I couldn’t articulate.

I asked if I could share her thoughts with you and she was happy to do so.  Here are her words.

“I was outside washing a few rugs on my patio when

one of my neighbors said “hello” to a neighbor walking by.

He returned the greeting and asked how she was doing.

She mentioned she was sad by what was going on in the world.

I don’t know if he was on his way to somewhere important,

but he stopped to talk with her.

That filled my heart.

Sometimes people just want someone to listen,

to let them express the thoughts twirling around inside their heads.

We may not be able to solve the issue,

but it lets them know that we care.

I was happy my neighbor could voice what she was feeling.

I know things are crazy right now,

but I want to say is that if someone wants to share what is troubling their heart,

give them a chance to share their thoughts…and Just Listen.”

That’s it!  Just Listen!

People don’t know what to do with the events happening in our world right now.  They come at us like torpedoes, tearing through the very fabric of our society ripping and shredding our world and what we perceive as normal.

Some issues are so shocking, we wonder how this could be happening in the year 2020 and in our beloved America!

What does one do with this information?  Especially if you live alone without someone to share your life and discuss what comes across our TV news broadcasts, social media and favorite online outlets. We need a way to process what we are seeing.

If you are like me, feeling like your world is turned upside down…there is hope.

I don’t know about you, but when I am stripped of all I think I have control over, more times than not God places me in a season of isolation. He does this to create a space of solitude where I can easily hear His voice without the distractions of the world and the cares of life.

The one lesson I’ve learned through this “lock-down” is Jesus is always there to LISTEN showing me that He is “the Way, the Truth and the Life”. When I pour my heart out to Him, I know that He hears and I am reassured He has a plan and offers to all of us a way of escape from this world we don’t recognize.

If you’re in a season like this, settle in, take a break from the news for a bit, limit your social media and put your focus on Him who heals human hearts. He will guide you into simple faith, trust and a right relationship with Him and His will for you.

You can then reach out to others giving comfort, friendship and a listening ear.

Simple Faith and Trust

I don't know about you, but when God strips away things I think I have control over, more times than not He places me in a season of isolation. He does this to create a place of solitude where I can easily hear His voice without the distractions of others and the things of life. If you're in a season like this, settle in, enjoy and He will guide you into simple faith, trust and a right relationship with Him and His will for you.
